Chandigarh, July 29

Now, all residential colonies in the state will be given regular power connections by discoms under various terms and conditions.

In addition, 2,300 residential power connections have been given to 13 developers in the past four months and more will be issued to three builders within the next one week. This information was given in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal today.

During the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary, Electricity Department, PK Das and Additional Chief Secretary, Town and Planning Department, Devender Singh were present.

It was informed in the meeting that by August 15, regular power connections will be issued to four builders. There are 26 builders who are not supplying regular power supply as per the load and diesel generator sets are used to meet the high demand. The meeting was further informed that regular power connections have been issued to 12 builders as per the adequate power load.

As per the recently framed policy, power connections are being issued by the Residents’ Welfare Associations and developers in case the amount is deposited for it.

It was decided in the meeting that the officials of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) will provide the list of deficient builders in case of regular power connection to the Town Planning Department. It was also decided that the Town Planning Department will not issue deemed occupancy and completion certificates to the deficient builders. Apart from this, the corporation will work to recover the amount by selling the property of the deficient builders in lieu of the power infrastructure set up by the DHBVN.
