Chandigarh, January 12

Haryana Medical Education Minister Anil Vij has said that the state government has approved the state’s nursing policy. This policy has come into force from January 1.

Vij was presiding over a review meeting with the officers of the Medical Education Department here on Tuesday evening. He said under this policy, the nursing college should have its own hospital of 100 beds or the college should be recognised by NABH hospital within a radius of 10 km of the nursing college. Apart from this, there should also be a provision for biometric attendance of students studying in accredited nursing colleges.

During the meeting, the policy regarding giving pension under the old scheme to the employees who were recruited before 2006 in Agroha Medical College was discussed and on this, Vij directed the officers to take necessary action.

Discussions and deliberations were also held regarding Covid infection and setting up of genome sequencing machine at PGIMS, Rohtak, to get information about cancer and other diseases. The minister said one more genome sequencing machine should also be installed at PGIMS, Rohtak, so that genome sequence could be detected for diseases other than Covid.
