Hisar, March 3

Former Union Minister and Congress leader Kumari Selja today said the current BJP-led NDA government was misleading the people of the country and the state with false promises.

Addressing a rally in Nathusari Chopta in Ellenabad Assembly constituency of Sirsa district, Selja said the people had been suffering on account of anti-people policies of the BJP-JJP government in the state.

“Nothing is being done to provide basic facilities to people. It is time to dethrone the government and form a Congress government so that people can get all facilities”, she said.

Taking a dig at the BJP, she said the ruling party should tell people what happened to the previous guarantees it had given to the people. “How many people were given jobs? Has the income of farmers doubled? There are many questions that the ruling party needs to answer,” she said.

Raising the farmers’ issue, she said they were asking the government to fulfil its promises and assurances given to them after the farmers’ agitation in 2021, but instead of talking to them, the government was putting nails on the roads to stop them from proceeding to Delhi.

Selja said if Congress was voted to power, MSP guarantee would be given to farmers which had been guaranteed by the Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi.

The former Sirsa MP said there was a big problem of waterlogging in the Nathusari Chopta region. Though the project was started along with the Rangoi Nala here, but the work was stopped after a few days. She said the Rangoi Nala was not cleaned, which had caused floods in the area during the last rainy season.
