Naib tehsildar booked under corruption Act in Ambala

The Ambala police have booked incumbent naib tehsildar of Ambala Cantonment under the Prevention of Corruption Act after a local Congress leader accused him of seeking bribe for the mutation of a property in Ambala Cantonment.

Rs 5 lakh for the mutation and threatened to cancel the mutation if the money was not paid. The Congress leader later approached Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij and now, a case has been registered at the Ambala Cantonment police station.

In his complaint, Pruthi, a former municipal councillor, alleged, “On April 5, I went to get the mutation of a property done for which naib tehsildar Bodhraj sought Rs 2 lakh and I gave him Rs 1 lakh. On April 12, the mutation was registered and later an affidavit was verified by the naib tehsildar. But the official began asking for Rs 5 lakh for the mutation and threatened to cancel it if the money was not paid. Since the official had been seeking bribe in the Assembly constituency of Home Minister Anil Vij, I approached the minister and requested him to take action against the official.” A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Ambala Cantonment police station against the naib tehsildar. Ram Kumar, DSP, Ambala Cantonment, said, “A case has been registered and the matter is being investigated.”
