The police probe into the murder of INLD state chief Nafe Singh Rathi has revealed that the assailants had opted the route of Sonepat and Gurugram to reach Rewari after perpetrating the crime at the Barahi level crossing in Bahadurgarh on February 25.

The car used in the crime was recovered from Rewari railway station yesterday and it is presumed that the assailants could have boarded a train from there to flee. The CCTV footage is being examined to find out their movement.

“During the investigation, we got to know that the assailants had fled towards Rewari from Gurugram after committing the crime but we did not have any idea that they had parked their car at the Rewari railway station to move to another place,” said an official associated with the probe.

He said since the assailants might have taken air route to flee abroad to evade the arrest, authorities of all airports of North India had also been intimated about them and their photographs had also been circulated.

The fourth suspect has been identified as Sourabh of Delhi. Raids were being conducted at their possible hideouts, he added.

Photographs of three other suspects — identified as Ashish, alias Baba of Nangloi, Atul of Najafgarh in Delhi and Deepak Sangwan, alias Nakul of Narnaul — were released yesterday while the police have also announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for information on each of them.

Jhajjar SP Arpit Jain confirmed that photographs of all suspects had been sent to the airport authorities stating that the police teams were conducting raids at all possible hideouts to arrest them. “We have got some vital leads and are confident to arrest them soon,” he added.

On being asked about verification of social media post uploaded in the name of notorious criminal Kapil Sangwan, alias Nandu, the SP said they were awaiting response from Facebook and Instagram.

Notably, a post in the name of gangster Nandu had gone viral on social media on Wednesday evening, claiming he had got Rathi killed as he was the friend of another gangster Manjeet Mahal.
