Man gets life term for raping minor

A fast-track special court in Sirsa has awarded life term to a 30-year-old man for raping an one-and-a-half-year-old girl. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the convict.

Accused Ravinder, a resident of a village in Fatehabad district, has been convicted under Section 376 AB of the IPC.

Besides, the court has also awarded a seven-year jail term on the charges under Section 365 (kidnapping) of the IPC. According to the information, the case was registered on June 4, 2019, on the complaint of victim’s mother at Sirsa women police station. The complainant had said her daughters were playing on the street on the evening of the incident. “I heard her screams and rushed to help her. When I reached the street, Ravinder had fled on his motorcycle with my daughter,” she said.
