Leopard sighted near Nuh temple, couple on bike report ‘animal’ attack

There is panic among the people of Nuh as a leopard has been sighted thrice in the past 15 days near Nalhar temple, with a couple claiming that they had been attacked by the animal.

The couple said they were returning to Tauru on Saturday night on a bike when the leopard jumped from the bushes and attacked them. His wife’s leg was scratched in the process before they sped away on the motorcycle.

“It suddenly appeared from the bushes and attacked my wife. We were too scared to look back and sped away,” said Javed. The wildlife authorities have confirmed sightings claim, but they are yet to be informed about the attack.“We have got the reports of sightings and the wildlife wing has already been mobilised. We will increase patrolling. We have got no complaint about the attack and will verify the details,” said newly appointed DFO Pradeep Gulia.

Residents said the leopard had been spotted in the area near Nuh’s Nalhar temple and Seelkho. It has constantly been moving towards the populated area. The leopard first appeared on February 23 at the Nalhar temple complex . This led to commotion on the premises. It appeared again the next day. Since then, the locals have been reporting its sighting. The temple authorities have issued warning to all devotees not to come to the temple alone but in groups and avoid coming on foot. The panchayats of villages have also issued a warning .
