Kurukshetra University clinches five medals in shooting championships

Dr Rajesh Sobti, director of sports at Kurukshetra University (KU), today announced the university won two individual and three team medals at the All India Inter-University Shooting (Men and Women) Championships 2023-24 organised by the KU.

75 teams participated

A total of 366 players, representing 75 teams from across the nation, participated in the four-day shooting event.

Muskan secured the silver medal in the Rifle Women (individual) event, while Samrat Rana grabbed the gold medal in the Pistol Men (individual) event.

The Rifle Women’s team comprising Shruti, Muskan and Yamini clinched the gold medal, followed by the Pistol Men’s team comprising Samrat Rana, Lovepreet and Deepak securing the silver medal, and KU’s Pistol Women’s team comprising Lakshita Chopra, Ketan Malik and Anjali grabbing the bronze medal.

Sobti said, “A total of 366 players representing 75 teams from across the nation participated in the four-day championship. As many as 16 players of the KU had participated in the team and individual events.”

The director further said 29 players of the university’s shooting (men and women) teams would participate in the upcoming Khelo India University Games in Assam.
