Kumari Selja seeks NIA probe into death threats to MLAs

Former Union Minister Kumari Selja today met Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya over death threats received by some MLAs of Haryana.

MLA Sadhaura Renu Bala, MLA Sonepat Surendra Panwar, MLA Sohna Sanjay Singh, MLA Safidon Subhash Gangoli and MLA Ferozepur Jhirka Maman Khan have received death threats recently.

Crime on the rise

The state government has given up its responsibility towards the increasing crime. Every day, newspapers are full of killings, threats, robbery of ATMs and dacoities using pistols and knives. Kumari Selja, Congress leader

During the meeting, Kumari Selja demanded enhancing the security of these MLAs immediately and to take strict action as soon as possible. Besides, she also demanded a high-level inquiry into this matter under the supervision of a sitting judge of the High Court.

She said that except MLA Maman Khan, who received threat at the local level, all other MLAs had received threats from abroad. She also demanded that an investigation be got conducted by the NIA.

Kumari Selja submitted a memorandum of these demands to the Governor. She was accompanied by Congress MLA from Sadhaura Renu Bala.

Expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order situation of the state, she said that the Haryana Government had given up its responsibility towards the increasing crime in the state. “Every day, newspapers are full of killings, threats, robbery of ATMs and dacoities using pistols and knives,” she said.
