Khattar launches action plan for drug-free Haryana

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar launched a state action plan for drug-free Haryana in a programme organised by the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Madhuban Police Academy today.

He exhorted the officials to implement the action plan strictly and effectively. He also unveiled a book on the state action plan.

It is claimed that Haryana is the first state to launch such an action plan.

Addressing the police officials, the CM said taking drugs destroyed not only the addicts, but also their families. “Drug menace is not limited to one area, but is spread across the world. It is a challenge to curb it, but can be achieved with efforts,” the CM said.

Talking about the action plan, the CM said now, the government, NGOs and people from society will jointly fight against drug menace.

“Under this plan, drug addicts will be identified, their counselling will be conducted and their rehabilitation will also be done after proper health check-up,” Khattar said.

The CM also laid stress upon to connecting youths with sports and said the state government had developed 1,100 sports nurseries to encourage the youths to take up sports.

He also announced that “dhakad” programmes would be organised in schools, colleges and universities to make students aware about the ill-effects of drugs.
