Rohtak, February 29

Congress’ Rajya Sabha member Deepender Singh Hooda today said that jungle raj prevailed in the state till 2004 and the situation was again the same now.

“Haryana was cleansed of gangsters after the Congress government came to power in 2004. Things are back to square one now. Instead of the people, criminals have become fearless under the current regime,” he said.

The MP was speaking at a state-level convention of the Unorganised Workers and Employees Congress at Sampla in Rohtak district.

He promised to ensure the payment of minimum support price (MSP) to the farmers and at least 150 days’ work under MGNREGA, if the Congress was voted to power in the state. He also promised better service rules and working conditions for MGNREGA mates and rural watchmen.

Coming down heavily on the BJP-JJP regime in the state, the Congress leader said instead of ending the contractual system of employment, the state government had itself become a contractor through the skill development corporation.

“While the other countries are evacuating their citizens from Israel, the Haryana Government is sending the state’s youth to work in the war-torn country,” he said.

Addressing the gathering, Haryana Congress president Udai Bhan stressed the significance of labour justice. “Labour justice, one of the five justices underlined by our leader Rahul Gandhi, is related to providing justice to this class by liberating it from injustice,” he said.

National president of the Unorganised Workers and Employees Congress Dr Udit Raj said only a Congress government could ensure jobs for the youth and keep the Constitution intact.
