Palwal, June 29

The police have claimed to have busted an interstate gang of vehicle thieves by arresting two persons. As many as eight stolen motorcycles have been seized.

Revealing this, an official of the Anti-Vehicle Theft (AVT) staff of the Police Department said two accused identified as Mukim, a resident of Alimeo village of the district, and Talim, a resident of Nuh district, were arrested after a tip-off from a spot near Kot village in the district on Sunday.

He said the accused were in possession of a stolen motorcycle at that time. The arrest and investigation of the matter led to the recovery of another seven motorcycles, which they had stolen in the past about one year.

He said the probe had revealed that the duo had been wanted in 61 different cases, which include vehicle theft, loot, illegal arms and assault.

These cases have been registered in Haryana, Delhi and UP. While Mukim is wanted in a total of 48 cases, Talim has been found to be involved in around 13 cases. They had been jailed in some of the cases earlier, but after getting bail, they had resumed their criminal activities, it is claimed.

Both accused were sent to judicial custody after the conclusion of the police remand today.
