The Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) has closed down the operations of an under-construction industrial unit, which was allegedly found installing machinery without obtaining permissions from the board at Damla village in Yamunanagar.

The authorities of the HSPCB has also asked the management of the industrial unit to shift the press mud to safer places and to store (dispose of) it according to rules and regulations to prevent air and water pollution.

They also wrote to the authorities of Uttar Haryana Bijli Nigam Limited (UHBVNL) to disconnect the power supply of the unit.

“Implementing the order issued by the higher authorities of the HSPCB, we closed down the operations related to the construction work of the unit situated at Damla village in Yamunanagar on Wednesday. We also wrote to the authorities of the UHBNL to disconnect the power supply of the unit,” said Nirmal Kashyap, Regional Officer, HSPCB, Yamunanagar.

The action was taken on a complainant lodged by Sumit Kumar Saini, a resident of Damla village, on the CM Window Grievance Portal. The Assistant Environment Engineer of the HSPCB, Naresh Kumar, and Municipal Engineer Deepak had conducted an inspection of the site on May 13.
