Haryana Diary: Congress yatra enthuses workers

Karnal: The Congress’ Jan Sandesh Yatra, under the leadership of Kumari Selja, Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala, and Tosham MLA Kiran Choudhary, has evoked enthusiastic response in the GT belt and charged up party workers. The majority of seats in the belt are held by the BJP. The enthusiastic participation of supporters along the yatra route has injected confidence into the party rank and file. Selja, who usually contests Lok Sabha elections, is keen on contesting the upcoming Assembly elections.

Bridging the gap

Hisar: The two factions of the Congress seem to have arrived at peace, at least on paper. Hoardings on display during the Congress Jan Sandesh Yatra in Sirsa district — addressed by Kumari Selja and Randeep Surjewala — carried photos of former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Haryana Congress leader Udai Bhan, among other leaders. Party sources claimed that a meeting was called between the two factions in Delhi by the central leadership. They were urged to bury the hatchet and work towards strengthening the party.

‘Mama-bhanja’ link

Rohtak: The “mama-bhanja” connection between CM Manohar Lal Khattar and former MP Ashok Tanwar has become the talk of the town. Khattar had spoken about it when Tanwar joined the BJP recently after quitting the AAP. The CM surprised everyone by stating that very few people knew that Tanwar’s mother belonged to his village, Baniyani, in Rohtak. “Hence, he happens to be my ‘bhanja’,” he had said.

‘Turn your kids into politicians!’

Ambala: Home and Health Minister Anil Vij has asked people to consider guiding their children into politics, too. While addressing a gathering recently, he said parents only think about making their children doctors, engineers or chartered accountants, but they should think about letting them join politics and become good politicians, too. Good and capable politicians can help the country progress at a faster rate, he said.

Project foundation laid ‘twice’

Faridabad: Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar laying the foundation stone of the Rs 16 crore Ballabgarh-Tigaon-Manjhawali road project on January 24 has sparked a row as the local MP had already laid the foundation of the project on December 22. Expressing surprise over two foundation laying events at the same project, social activist Paras Bhardwaj said instead of completing the project on time, those in power try to take credit for construction projects.
