FDA drive to check quality of jaggery in Haryana

The Food and Drug Administration Department has launched a campaign to check the quality of jaggery/sugar in the state. As per norms, samples of 67 food items (jaggery, sugar and khand) were sent for analysis to the food laboratory and 500 kg of jaggery was seized from Palwal and is destroyed.

The spokesperson said food item manufacturers, sellers and food-operators had been urged to prepare and sell food items and get their business registered under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and Rules 2011.
