Farmers protest BJP meeting in Karnal

Karnal, July 25

Tense situation prevailed in the district’s Salwan village today as hundreds of farmers protested to oppose a BJP meeting.

After getting information about the meeting, farmers Sukhwinder Singh, Chaterpal Singh, Kulbir Singh and others marched towards the venue. Carrying black flags, they raised slogans against the BJP and its local leaders.

“Local BJP leaders are holding meetings to provoke farmers. We will continue to oppose BJP-JJP leaders until the three laws are repealed,” Sukwinder said, adding the three farm laws introduced last year were against the farming community.

A heavy police force was deployed and barricades installed to stop farmers from reaching the venue. — TNS
