Hisar, June 15

Three motorcycle-borne youths shot at a farmer and looted Rs 4.25 lakh from him near Ajima village in Hisar district on Tuesday.

The victim, identified as Shriniwas, was rushed to a hospital with a bullet injury.

The police said Shriniwas along with his father Krishan was going to make payment to an arhtiya on a motorcycle after withdrawing cash from Moth village. As they reached near Ajima village, three bike-borne persons waylaid them. One of the accused fired at Shriniwas while the other two snatched the bag containing cash and fled the spot.

DSP Jugal Kishore said the police had started the investigation after registering a case. “We have formed three teams. The police are trying to identify the accused by scanning the CCTV footage. It is suspected that the accused could be trailing the farmer from the bank when he withdrew the cash,” he added. — TNS
