Extension lecture at Sirsa varsity

Sirsa: Dr Uma Shankar Pachori, a senior educationist of Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal from Gawalior, addressed students of Hindi Department at Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa, during an extension lecture. "Educational institutes play a vital role in overall development of students by providing proper counselling and guidance to students," he said. He said the pupils who work hard could achieve success in any field. He asserted that a good teacher knows the strength and weakness of his student and converts weakness into strength. He gave various examples to differentiate Indian and Western culture and said Indian culture was the best in the world. He said body posture was also helpful in increasing concentration and memory therefore students should sit straight. Department Chairperson Umed Singh said learning was a life-long process and students should learn through observation and experiences.

Workshop on intellectual property rights

Hisar: A workshop on the topic "Intellectual property rights (IPR)" was organised by the Centre for Industry Institute Partnership (CIIP), Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology here. Vice-Chancellor Prof Tankeshwar Kumar inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest. Haryana State Council for Science and Technology scientist Dr Rahul Taneja and other professors from the Department of Science and Technology, Panchkula, were present as key note speakers at the workshop. CIIP Director HC Garg presided over the inaugural function. The VC said the situation of IPR in India was in need for improvement. The universities contribute only seven per cent in filing patents from nation, whereas, they should play a leading role. Prof Harbhajan Bansal said our research is of no use if we do not file patents.

One-day orientation programme

Faridabad: JC Bose University of Science and Technology here conducted a one-day orientation programme for newly recruited employees of the university. The university had recruited 21 teaching and non-teaching employees recently for the post of associate professor, assistant professor, lab assistant and clerk. The programme was conducted by internal quality assurance cell (IQAC) director Dr Hari Om. The objective of the program was to welcome newly appointed employees and introduce them to the university facilities, administrative and academic systems, the rules and regulations of the university. Registrar Dr SK Garg welcomed the new employees and introduced them to VC Prof Dinesh Kumar. The Vice-Chancellor congratulated them and urged them to contribute in enhancing the quality of services being provided by the university whole heartedly. All deans, chairpersons and senior officials of the university were also present on the occasion.

Extension lecture at KVA DAV

Karnal: The Women Development Cell (Jagriti) of the KVA DAV College for Women here installed a sanitary pad vending machine and an incinerator at the college. An extension lecture on the topic "Hygiene awareness for girl students" in collaboration with 'Prayas' and 'Sakhi' programme was also organised. Principal Sujata Gupta welcomed JCI Club chairperson JC Deepika Goyal. She commended the initiative of the club in promoting safe and hygienic menstrual practice among young girls. She advised the girls to maintain proper hygiene in both their home and at the college premises. Deepika Goyal stressed the importance of maintaining hygiene during periods in order to prevent any infection. Dr Preeti Saldi was the key speaker at the extension lecture, who said menstrual hygiene was a basic reproductive health right of all women.
