Chandigarh, March 1

Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda today took on the Khattar government and said if it had interfered in the functioning of the Sukhu government by providing safe sanctuary for rebel Congress MLAs, it was wrong.

Minor differences

We have talked to all 34 MLAs. Their issues were minor. The differences have been resolved. A six-member coordination committee has been formed, including HPCC president Pratibha Singh, Sukhu, and the Deputy CM. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Leader of opposition

He was responding to the allegations of Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu that the Haryana Police and CRPF personnel took away rebel Congress MLAs after they cross-voted in the Rajya Sabha elections on Tuesday, resulting in the defeat of the official candidate of the party, Abhishek Manu Singhvi. The MLAs were first taken to the PWD guest house in Panchkula and later to a hotel.

Hooda, who was involved in the formation of the HP Government soon after the Assembly election results in December 2022, said, “We have talked to all 34 MLAs. Their issues were minor. The differences have been resolved. Now, a six-member coordination committee has been formed, including HPCC president Pratibha Singh, Sukhu, and the Deputy CM.”

Hooda said they wanted to talk to the rebel MLAs, but couldn’t communicate with them. “Sukhu will stay as CM, Pratibha Singh as state Congress president and Vikramaditya is back after withdrawal of resignation. All of them will fight the Lok Sabha poll together,” he said.

Discussing the Haryana Government’s MoU with Rajasthan over releasing water, Hooda said, “Rajasthan is withholding our water. Water used to come to Haryana from three rivers in Rajasthan. There was an agreement between Punjab and Rajasthan, but the neighbouring state constructed a dam to stop the water flow.”

“Why are we giving water? Our water table is going down. Why has the government signed an MoU with Rajasthan?” he asked.

On the Lok Sabha poll, he said, “We are holding negotiations for choosing candidates. Unemployment is a major issue and inflation is high.”
