Curb inflation, amend GST: Haryana Congress

The Haryana Congress today staged a strong protest against inflation in Chandigarh as part of the demonstrations organised by the party across the country.

Undeclared emergency imposed

They have imposed an undeclared emergency in the country. Today the prices of petrol-diesel, CNG, PNG, LPG are increasing. The GST has been imposed on flour, ghee, paneer, milk. Udai Bhan, State President

Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda and state president Udai Bhan led the protest from the party office. They were to gherao Raj Bhawan, but the police barricaded the area and took the leaders in custody.

Addressing party leaders and workers, Hooda said every person in the country was troubled by inflation and unemployment. “The life of poor and middle-class people has become difficult as unemployment and inflation are highest in Haryana, compared to any other part of the country,” he said.

“The Opposition has decided to take to the streets to raise the voice of the people. The Congress is demanding that the Central government should give relief to the public by amending the GST and the state government should also cut the VAT rates,” he said.

Hooda raised the Agniveer scheme, deduction of pension for the elderly and increasing crime in the state.

“We have taken up the issues connected with the common man on the streets, we will also take these up during the coming Assembly session,” he said. Bhan said, “They have imposed an undeclared emergency in the country. Today the prices of petrol-diesel, CNG, PNG, LPG are increasing. The GST has been imposed on flour, ghee, paneer,

milk, even butter milk. Inflation continues to spiral even as the income of the people is decreasing. Unemployment has reached its peak, but the government is not even ready to discuss any issue,” he said.

karnal: Congress workers on Friday protested against the GST on essential items, inflation and unemployment. They staged a dharna outside the Mini Secretariat and burnt an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They courted arrest, but were later released.

Kuldeep Sharma, former Speaker of the Haryana Assembly, Trilochan Singh, former chairperson, Haryana Minority Commission, and Kamal Mann, senior Congress leader, said people of the country were struggling hard to meet their daily requirements, but the Union Government had failed to give relief to them.
