A target of 62,500 acres for maize and 32,500 acres for pulses such as ‘moong’, ‘urad’ and ‘arhar’ has been set to diversify paddy crop with these crops.

In order to encourage farmers, the state government has also decided to provide an incentive of Rs 2,400 per acre for maize and Rs 3,600 per acre for pulses.

The incentive will be transferred to the bank account of farmers through DBT after physical verification.

“With the implantation of the scheme, not only the income of farmers will increase, but it will also conserve natural resources to fulfil the nutritional requirements,” the Additional Chief Secretary said, adding that district-level events will also be organised to make farmers aware about the scheme.
