Cops: In 6 months, 122 prosecuted for filing fake plaints in Faridabad

The local police claimed to have taken a legal action in connection with a total of 122 false complaints lodged since February this year.

“The action has been taken against 122 accused who lodged false complaints under Section 182 of the IPC,” said a spokesperson of the district police here today.

Citing some of the cases, Sube Singh, PRO of the department, said a crime branch team recently go one such complaint, in which the accused — Kunal of Charmwood village in Surajkund — claimed to be a victim of robbery on August 1 last year. According to the police, the robbery complaint was found to be fabricated and Kunal was booked under Section 182 of the IPC.

In a similar case, a complaint lodged by Devender of Adarsh Nagar, Ballabgarh, saying that his motorcycle had been stolen on September 11, 2021, was also found to be false and the complainant has been booked. Further, the crime branch exposed a similar case in which the accused, Naveen, who has a company named MP Auto Mobile in Greater Noida, had lodged an FIR that two persons snatched his car on June 10 after kidnapping him and looting Rs 10 lakh cash from him near Dayalpur village. As it was found to be a false complaint, the accused has been booked for misleading and wasting the time of the police and the judiciary, Singh added.
