Ambala, March 20

Complainants from across the state reached Ambala Cantonment today to take up their issues with Home and Health Minister Anil Vij. They alleged police inaction in cases of murder, rape, attempt to murder, NDPS Act, immigration and matrimonial disputes.

Vij listened to public grievances at the PWD rest house in Ambala Cantt for the first time after he recently decided to resume his weekly Janta Darbar instead of hearing complaints daily at his house due to his health condition.

People from Panipat, Sonepat, Jind, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Mewat, Jhajjar, Faridabad, Yamunanagar and other districts submitted their complaints related to the Departments of Police, Urban Local Bodies, Education, Health and Sports. Vij directed the officials concerned to examine and resolve the complaints. Some people sought financial assistance for medical treatment and house repairs and jobs.

Vij said, “As I am Home Minister, a majority of the complaints I receive are related to the police. Even today there were cases related to the Police Department and I ordered the SPs concerned to take necessary action within the stipulated time and submit reports. Some cases were also marked to the officials of other districts after the complainants expressed dissatisfaction with the probes by the officials of their areas”. — TNS
