Body found, drug overdose suspected

A youth’s body was found near the Vikas Nagar locality here this morning. The police recovered a syringe near his body, raising suspicion of drug overdose. The deceased has been identified as Ajay.

Sources said the deceased was a drug addict and his family had admitted him to a de-addiction centre. He had returned home from the centre about 10 days ago.

Head Constable Sompal of the Padao police chowki, who is investigating the matter, said, “The body was taken to the Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. During investigation, a syringe was also found near the dead body. Prima facie, it seems to be a case of drug overdose. Howerver, the cause of death will be certain only after the post-mortem report comes,” he said.
