Agnipath scheme, scams flagged in Congress’s no-confidence motion against Haryana's Khattar government

Rising unemployment, Agnipath scheme, paper leaks, 75 per cent “quota drama”, crime against women and Dalits, and “countless scams” form the basis of Congress’ no-confidence motion against the Khattar government.

The motion has been moved under Rule 65 of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Haryana Legislative Assembly. Former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda is one of the signatories of the motion. “The government has failed on all fronts. We were at the top of the country in per capita income in 2014, but now the state is ahead in unemployment, crime, and corruption,” he alleged while interacting with reporters.

The motion reads, “The rising unemployment in the state speaks about the failure of the state government. While the Agniveer Scheme has been a flop show, the government has been exploiting educated youth in the name of providing jobs through the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam by not offering benefits on the pattern of government jobs. While thousands of vacancies have not been filled, the government is fooling unemployed youth in the name of sending them abroad for jobs.” The Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) and Haryana Staff Selection Commission have been described as “den of corruption”. “New methods of paper leaks are being adopted and scams are taking place in recruitment from Group D to HCS posts. During the past nine years, papers of about 30 recruitment exams got leaked and scams like cash-for-jobs have come to light, but no action has been taken against any person holding a high position,” it said.

“The 75 per cent quota for local youth in private jobs was just a phrase to gain political mileage and it was exposed in the court,” said BB Batra, Congress chief whip.

The motion also claims that the state “has become a haven for criminals as murders, rapes, dacoity, kidnapping, crime against women and children, cybercrime, and crimes against Dalits have increased manifold”.

Countless scams, including mining scam worth thousands of crores, sanitation scam, paddy-millet purchase scam and Ayushman Yojana had been exposed in the state, it adds. The Rs 100-crore Cooperation Department scam was also raised.
