Chandigarh, June 27

On Simranjeet Singh Mann’s victory in the Sangrur byelection, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said that separatist sentiment getting a boost is not good for the country.

He added, “A new party (AAP) came to power in the state. It promised freebies. It is not good. The Modi government has started the start-up policy. Freebies work in Delhi. Punjab’s fiscal health is such that these freebies are not possible. The CM’s own constituency has been lost.”

He was addressing a press conference after the Cabinet meeting.

On the banning of Sidhu Moosewala’s SYL song, Khattar said sentiments shouldn’t be provoked on the issue. The issue should have been solved through mutual discussion, he added.

On Agnipath scheme, Khattar said the state government had directed the departments concerned to prepare a plan for Agniveers employment who will return with experience, training and ideas.
