Ambala, January 19

The administration has finally woken up to check illegal mining that was going on in different parts of the district, especially along the Markanda rivulet in Naraingarh and Begna rivulet in Shahzadpur.

A Special Task Force (STF), headed by Naraingarh SDM Aditi and DSP Amit Bhatia, along with the enforcement staff and police force swooped on the screening plants operating in Naraingarh sub-division.

Screening plants are types of machines used to extract ores from the ground using water and the sedimentation processing.

The STF detected 21 illegal screening plants, of which three were sealed and police cases were registered against their operators while proceedings to seal were initiated against the rest of the plant operators for doing business without obtaining NOC. — TNS
