District Town Planner cracks whip

  • Yamunanagar District Town Planner (DTP) Amit Madholia has detected a record 55 unauthorised colonies in Yamunanagar district in past one year. Not bowing before political and other pressures, he has carried out demolition drives in 45 such colonies in the said period. He has also written to police authorities for registration of FIRs against persons involved in carving out 30 unauthorised colonies. Six FIRs have already been registered in this connection.

On the complaint of Yamunanagar District Town Planner (DTP) Amit Madholia and Field Investigator Mohit Sharma, the FIRs were registered under Section 10 of the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Area Act, 1975 at police stations in the district on Wednesday.

According to information, the accused were carving out unauthorised colonies and promoting illegal construction on agriculture land in Buria town, Bhambholi, Golanpur, Kansapur and Ratoli villages without obtaining licences from the Director, Town and Country Planning Department, Haryana.

DTP Amit Madholia issued show-cause notices to the colonisers/property dealers and land owners under various sections of the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Area Act, 1975. But, violators failed to reply to the notices, following which the DTP carried out a demolition drive in those unauthorised colonies and lodged police complaints to register FIRs against them.

“We have detected most of the unauthorised colonies and action, including registration of FIRs, is being taken against those responsible. We are also creating awareness among people of the district to not buy plots in such colonies,” said Madholia.
