Gurugram, July 5

Taking a stern stance on rampant corruption complaints in the Municipal Corporations of Faridabad and Gurugram, the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has sought a report from both Municipal Commissioners.

The report will be tabled at a special meeting of a high-powered committee on July 7. The Department of Urban Local Bodies has issued letters to both Municipal Corporation chiefs Mukesh Ahuja, Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Gurugram, and Yashpal Yadav, Commissioner, Faridabad. While Gurugram has 74 complaints pending since the past one-and-half year, the number stands at 86 in Faridabad. In addition to this, over 1,040 complaints are pending in departments such as the HSVP, revenue, transport, health, public health and sanitation etc. Letters have been issued to these departments also.

“Complaints are of serious nature and have long been pending. Like other departments, we have sought status report from the biggest corporations of the state. A meeting in this regard will be held on July 7 and action will be taken against the guilty,” said a senior official of the Urban Local Bodies Department. Sources claim while the Gurugram Municipal Corporation will have to share its action-taken report on bill payments of C and D waste lifting, advertisement scam, alleged delayed litigations, illegal constructions in connivance with officials, misappropriation of funds , corruption in property id management and allotment, the Faridabad Municipal Corporation will have to explain complaints pertaining to advertisement norms violations and illegal constructions. Repeated attempts to contact Gurugram Municipal Commissioner Mukesh Ahuja proved futile.
