1 held for writing Khalistan slogans on walls in Karnal

Arrested on basis of CCTV footage

The Karnal police have claimed to have arrested a man for allegedly writing pro-Khalistan slogans on boundary walls of Dyal Singh College and DAV Senior Secondary School in the city on the intervening night of June 19 and 20.

The accused was identified as Manjeet of Duldhi village in Patiala district. He was arrested from Gurditpur village on Sunday night, while another accused, identified as Resham Singh, a resident of Barnala district in Punjab, is at large.

ASP Assandh, Gaurav Rajpurohit, led the team and arrested the accused on the basis of CCTV footage and other evidence.

In preliminary investigation, the accused revealed that Gurpatwant Singh Pannu of the banned organisation Sikh for Justice (SFJ) had contacted them through WhatsApp and offered them $1,000. Pannu had even shared the location with them. Manjeet was produced in court and taken on five-day police remand.
