How excited are you to be a part of this big project?

I can’t express my excitement. It’s truly overwhelming and I am very excited. This is the story that needs to be told and I am happy we are telling it globally.

How well do you know Chhatrapati Tararani?

Not much. I am still reading about her. After Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Rajaram (Tararani’s husband), there was no one to take care of the kingdom. At that time Aurangzeb thought it was the end of the Maratha empire, but it was Chhatrapati Tararani who took over and made sure she re-captured all the forts won by him.

When will you start shooting for this one?

In February 2022. The shooting will happen in parts of Maharashtra and studios in the United Kingdom.

What is your opinion about OTT platforms and regional content?

With the boom in OTT platforms, we don’t have to wait for a Hindi remake of a popular Marathi film. The more regional stuff I see, the more authentic I find it.

You have been part of Hindi movies as well. Has that taken a back seat now?

I am really enjoying my space in the Marathi movies. But if I get some nice roles in Hindi cinema, I will surely do that.

Who do you look up to when it comes to your skills?

I can’t name only one person in my life. There are many and when you meet them, knowingly or unknowingly, they inspire you.

How do you see yourself five years from now?

The pandemic has taught that we shouldn’t plan anything. Stay in the present and enjoy your moment because we don’t know what will happen tomorrow.
