Rohit Suchanti will be playing Rishi Oberoi in Zee TV and Balaji Telefilms’ show Bhagya Lakshmi. Here’s a chat with the actor

What is the concept of the show?

Bhagya Lakshmi is an exciting story about love, life and karma. Set against in Mumbai, this new primetime drama will follow the journey of Lakshmi, a selfless girl, who despite her humble background and the curveballs that life has thrown at her, always puts others’ needs before hers.

Is this show related to Kundali Bhagya and Kumkum Bhagya?

No, our show is not related to Kundali Bhagya or Kumkum Bhagya. It has a very different storyline. In fact, even the characters are very different.

How is this show different from other family dramas?

I believe the show brings forth a unique thought. It’s about the power of faith.

Can you share more about your character?

I will be portraying the role of Rishi Oberoi, a rich industrialist. Rishi is practical as a person and believes in the power of seizing the moment and carving his own path. Having taken over his father’s business, he works very hard but parties just as hard.

What convinced you to essay Rohit’s role?

Personally, I feel Rishi is grounded and practical, who believes in carving his life his own way. There are a lot of similarities between both of us, and I am sure I am going to have a lot of fun exploring this character.

How does it feel to be a part of a show produced by Ekta Kapoor?

The entire crew has been extremely co-operative and I am having a great time on the sets. Ekta ma’am is the queen of entertainment and being a part of her show is like adding a golden feather to your hat.

What kind of preparation did you do for this role?

When I auditioned for this show, I had gained a lot of weight. They requested me to get fit again as my character demands that I look a certain way. I was

89 kg back then and I have lost approximately 5- 6 kg so far, and I am still working on my look.

How is your bond with the co-actor Aishwarya Khare?

Aishwarya is a very sweet and adorable person. I have noticed that she is very sensitive in nature. We both share an amazing bond but she is very different from the kind of person I am.

I am driven by my rules.
