Rajendra Chawla talks about father-son relationship

Show comments

Tell us about your role in Tera Yaar Hoon Main.

I play Dadaji Pratap Bansal, the first-generation patriarch. He is very traditional, firm and does not believe in offering explanations for his decisions.

Should parents be their child’s friends or remain as parents?

I feel it should be a balance of both. It should be a system where both learn from each other. When you need to teach your child something, you should be a parent but when it comes to learning something, you should be a friend to your child.

How comfortable were you to join shootings amid the new normal?

Usually in the industry, we would hug each other and meet but that has changed. We have been wearing masks, PPE kits, maintaining social distancing, sanitizing and what not.

Who is your inspiration when it comes to acting?

There are several people who have inspired me. My source of inspiration dates back to my theatre days.

You have done films like A Wednesday, MS Dhoni and others. What do you prefer—TV or films?

I do not have any preference as I am always open to any work. A platform which gives me the chance to showcase my acting skills is what I want.

What did you do to keep yourself busy during the lockdown?

This lockdown for me was the much needed break to spend time with my family. During this time, I also watched a lot of content on OTT platforms. This phase was a reboot phase for me.

What’s next in the pipeline?

Currently I am doing two shows, one is Sony Sab’s Tera Yaar Hoon Main and the other one is Sony Entertainment Television’s Mere Dad Ki Dulhan.
