Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh is all set to celebrate his 38th birthday today. He is often known to shy away from giving interviews and speaking much of his personal life. However there were certain occasions when Diljit spoke blatantly about his career choices and insecurities. Right from the beginning of his singing days, Diljit has been a heart-throb of youth.

In his active career of nearly 18 years, he has witnessed new unprecedented heights, both in singing and acting. His first single “Nachdi De” featuring Miss Pooja launched back in 2009. Thereafter various super hit singles, including “Patiala Peg”, ‘‘5 Taara”, ‘‘Raat Di Gedi”, ‘‘Jatt Fire Karda”.

Humble beginning

Dosanjh’s first album “Ishq Da Uda Ada” got released in 2004 with a division of T-Series. This was his debut album in Punjabi music industry. He gave voice to all the eight tracks of album.

Entry into Punjabi acting industry

In 2011, Dosanjh entered mainstream Punjabi movies and “The Lion of Punjab” served out to be his debut movie. Though the movie failed miserably, his track “Lak 28 Kudi Da” received significant attention. His some other movies like “Jinhe Mera Dil Lutya”, “Jatt &Juliet”, “Disco Singh”, “Sardaarji”, “Super Singh” were also released in the course.

Bollywood acting debut

Diljit made his entry into Hindi films in Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Udta Punjab in 2016. The film proved to be a commercial success with worldwide collections of Rs 996.7 million. The film categorically upholds the issue of substance abuse in Punjab. His next release was Good Newwz where he was paired alongside Kiara Adwani.

Philanthropy

Dosanjh started an NGO “Saanjh Foundation” for underprivileged children and overlooked senior citizens, giving them access to orphanages and old age homes. The foundation also encourages youth to build self-confidence, well-being and career development. This foundation was launched on his birthday in 2013.
