Model Niharika Sharma lives in Jalandhar and has no high aspirations. For a fashion figure, a goal that simple, which is to make her parents proud and become an inspiring figure for those around her, is surprising. As a student of Cambridge International School-Jalandhar, she dared to dream big and worked towards achieving those. Recalling her childhood, she says her interest in fashion was quite visible to her friends and family. From using her mother’s lipstick and clothes to dressing up Barbie dolls, Niharika could do different hair styles when she was a teenager.

After completing her secondary education she got offers to be featured in songs but she felt it was not the right time for her. After a year or so, when she was ready, she started taking modelling assignments for makeup artists and designers. Apart from modelling, she enjoys dancing and cycling in her free time.

Your first assignment...

It was a makeup shoot for the famous makeup artist Nehazz in Ludhiana.

Your most interesting shoot so far and why...

It’s tough to choose but I have enjoyed working with designer Vibha Amit. They had such an amazing collection of outfits and the studio look was mesmerising.

Designer you want to walk for...

Manish Malhotra

A fashion tip for youngsters?

Don’t waste your money on branded clothes. It is not always about the price tag, but rather how you carry and pair your clothes together.

If not a model, then...

If not a model, then may be a makeup artist.

Your current style?

I prefer light colours. I have been pairing up kurtis with silver jewellery this summer.

What is your daily routine?

I have to shoot almost every day, so managing diet and fitness takes a back seat at times. Making a routine in life and following it regularly is difficult. On normal shooting days with no late night shoots, I get up early and do my workout or running. I go for my shoots and make sure that I have my last meal of the day at home.

What will you wear on a date?

One-piece dress with high heels. This is attractive and classy at the same time.

Wardrobe must-haves?

A plain over-sized white shirt, classic jeans and sunglasses. Also, in footwear, white sneakers and ballet flats because they are comfortable.

Casual pick in clothing?

It would be boyfriend jeans with plain t-shirt and sexy sunglasses.

Career goals

I have only one goal that is to make my family proud and give them all the happiness. The lockdown has made us realise that career is secondary but family isn’t.

The place on your travel list?

Malaysia.

A celeb’s gym look you admire...

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sara Ali Khan.

Healthy snack you munch on...

I love eating fries and I consider it healthy.

Who do you feel has the most bizarre dressing sense for a celebrity?

For me, it is Janhvi Kapoor because she wears anything and everything which sometimes doesn’t suit her body shape.

Your philosophy of life?

Dare to dream. If you can dream it, you can achieve it.

An exotic place you would like to go for a date?

Thailand.

Celebrity you admire or wish to date?

Aamir Khan.

How do you unwind?

Either I do meditation or talk to my mother. It helps me relax after a hard day at work.
