Abhinandan Jindal, who plays Chamku in Hari Mirch Laal Mirch Ek Teekhi Ek Karaari, misses Chandigarh, his home town

You are from Chandigarh. What do you miss about the city while staying in Mumbai?

I miss everything about Chandigarh. It has been four years since I visited the city. I miss meri mitti ki khushboo, the farms, the weather, my gym where I started training. Most importantly, I miss the silence and the calm vibe of my city.

Tell us about your role in the show.

Chamku is the perfect example of a homely guy. Very innocent, sober, doesn’t know how to fight or abuse anybody. Nobody takes him seriously because of his name. He wants to prove his worth.

How is your bond with your co-stars?

We all work like a family. I generally don’t talk much on the sets.

Have you progressed in your acting career as you expected?

In television, it is important to establish yourself as a lead and I would love to be in that space.

Of all the roles you have played in the past, which is your favourite?

Munna of Thapki Pyaar Ki, because of the intensity and depth. There were many shades in that character. As an actor, I was satisfied playing it.

Who is your favourite actor and why?

Shah Rukh Khan, because of his aura. Though he played a completely negative role in Darr, still he won the hearts of the viewers.

How would you describe yourself in five words?

Deep, focused, thinker, hearty guy and a loner.

How do you motivate your fellow actors?

With my pleasant smile. I tell them to just chill and enjoy the shoot and the process.

How do you manage your personal and professional life?

Well, there is no such personal and professional thing with me. I go to work, do my job, don’t talk much, come back home and I go for long drives alone or spend time with my family if they are around. I usually travel alone.

What makes you smile and what scares you the most?

When I make my parents happy and if I am satisfied with my work. That gives me satisfaction. I don’t get frightened too easily.

How do you feel about nepotism in the industry?

Being an outsider, it takes years to understand the craft and by the time you understand things, you don’t have much time to invest in this industry as with age come responsibilities. If you are from the industry, you are groomed since your childhood itself.
