New Delhi, January 17

The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) today took up the kidnapping of three girls belonging to the Hindu community in Pakistan.

DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa said three girls had been kidnapped in the past 48 hours.

One of them, had been been kidnapped and raped. The father of the girl got a threatening call from the kidnapper asking him not to even try and get her back, Sirsa said, adding that the girl was kidnapped from Jacobabad.

He termed the kidnapping and forceful conversions as a "crime against humanity".

Two other girls had been kidnapped from Sindh, the DSGMC chief said, adding that the local police had not helped. Rather then lodging a complaint, the cops told parents to come back after three-four days.

On being asked what all can be done to tackle this problem, Sirsa urged the United Nations Human Rights Council to look into the matter and restore the dignity of the minorities in Pakistan. — TNS
