Differently-abled Yashveer Goyal felicitated in Mysore

Yashveer Goyal, a deaf and dumb youth from the city who had won a national award in the ‘role model’ category in the National Awards for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities in 2019 (conferred by the Vice-President of India), was felicitated in Mysore city, Karnataka, at a special ceremony organised during the 22nd National Chess Championship for Persons with Deafness.

Goyal was honoured by senior functionaries of All the India Sports Council of the deaf and senior functionaries of the Punjab State Deaf and Dumb Sports Association. He was in Mysore to participate in the 22nd national chess championship for deaf held in the second week of January. He was selected to participate in the national championship after winning a gold medal in the state chess championship for deaf in the men’s category last year.

In the felicitation ceremony, Yashveer was given a certificate of honour along with a shield by Sports Council senior functionaries Chand Pasha and Jatinder.

Goyal was conferred the national award for his outstanding achievements in the field of sports (both chess and badminton), informational technology, photography, poster making, feature writing, computer education and general education. He was also selected as an icon by the Election Commission for Lok Sabha election 2019 for promotion of electoral participation. — TNS
