Jammu, January 20
The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday forfeited the DG’s commendation medal and certificates awarded to the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Davinder Singh, who was arrested along with militants allegedly “for helping them to travel out of Jammu and Kashmir”.
The order issued by the J&K police headquarters read that the suspended officer’s act “amounts to disloyalty and brought the force into disrepute”.
“The DG’s commendation medal and certificate awarded to him, vide PHQ J&K order No. 4319 of 1998, dated 31.12.98, is hereby forfeited,” the order stated.
Earlier in the week, the Jammu and Kashmir administration "forfeited" the Sher-e-Kashmir Police Medal for Gallantry awarded to Davinder Singh. According to the order, Singh was awarded Jammu and Kashmir's highest police award in 2018.
The police had arrested Singh at Mir Bazar in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on January 11 along with the Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists.
