Speaker unveils book on new Parliament building

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla unveiled a captivating coffee table book, Parliament Art, here today.

The coffee table book showcases the distinctive art and sculpture adorning the Parliament House’s new building.

Published by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the book is a testament to India’s rich cultural heritage.

This collaborative effort offers readers a mesmerising journey through the corridors of power intertwined with the essence of India’s rich cultural heritage.

As the pages turn, one is transported into a realm where the tradition meets modernity, seamlessly blending ancient democratic symbols with contemporary expressions of creativity.

During the ceremony, Speaker Om Birla praised the IGNCA for their remarkable efforts in enriching the new Parliament House with a diverse array of art, artefacts and sculptures.

He applauded the IGNCA’s role in creating a distinctive representation of Indian culture, noting how the curated pieces beautifully capture the essence of the nation’s unique diversity while upholding its nationalism.

Birla further elaborated on the integration of various aspects of ancient Indian democracy and modern democratic mechanism, such as elections, into the architectural design of the building.
