Plea on disqualification of Mukul Roy as West Bengal MLA

A plea was filed in the SC on Monday seeking directions to the Speaker to decide the issue of disqualification of former BJP leader Mukul Roy as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of West Bengal. The plea filed by advocate Bijan Ghosh contended that Roy, who defected to the TMC, has been nominated as Chairman of Public Accounts Committee of the state Assembly during the pendency of the petition before Speaker by LoP Suvendu Adhikari seeking his disqualification under the anti-defection law, Tenth Schedule of the Constitution.
