New Delhi, January 22

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that with the consecration of Ram Lalla idol in Ayodhya, the wait of devotees had finally ended after five centuries.

He offered prayers at Laxmi Narayan temple, also known as Birla Mandir, in the national capital. Later in a post on X, Shah wrote: “Today is an unforgettable day for crores of devotees of Prabhu Shri Ram. Today, when our Ram Lalla is in his grand temple, like countless devotees of Prabhu Shri Ram, I too am overwhelmed with emotions.”

Shah said that it was not possible to capture this feeling in words, adding that “so many of our generations sacrificed so much waiting for this moment, but no fear and terror could shake the resolve and faith to build the temple again at Shri Ram janmabhoomi”.

The Home Minister further noted that this resolve had been fulfilled under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed his gratitude to him for the same.

He added that the struggle of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, thousands of saints and innumerable known and unknown people had yielded the pleasant and successful result today.

Meanwhile, several union ministers and BJP leaders also offered prayers at different temples across the country. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh offered prayers at Sanatan Dharam Mandir at Daryaganj.

Railway and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw participated in a special pooja at Jagannath Temple in the Hauz Khas area. BJP president JP Nadda attended the religious rituals at the Jhandewalan temple in New Delhi.

Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari visited a Ram temple in Nagpur. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman attended kirtan at the Kamakshi Amman temple in Kanchipuram. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal offered prayers at the Siddhi Vinayak temple in Mumbai.
