New Delhi, February 13

Chief Minister-designate Arvind Kejriwal is facing the demand of adding a member of the Sikh community to his Cabinet. The AAP-led Delhi Government, in both its terms, hasn’t had a single Sikh face in the Cabinet so far.

Ranjeet Kaur, senior vice-president of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), has asked him to induct a Sikh face into his Cabinet.

The AAP national convener will take oath at Ramlila Maidan at 10 am on Sunday with his Cabinet team. The party has invited residents of Delhi to be part of the oath-taking ceremony.

Demanding representation for the community, Kaur said: “The AAP government did not have any Sikh face in any of its terms. A Sikh representation is a must in the Cabinet to highlight their issues. There are many issues in the community that need to be addressed.”

“The issues include 1984 anti-Sikh riots, promotion of Punjabi language, and proper representation to the religious matter of the community among others. I would like to congratulate AAP for the victory,” she added.

AAP won 62 out of 70 seats in the Assembly elections.
