New Delhi, February 20

Delhi Lieutenant-Governor VK Saxena unveiled four cascading fountains, stormwater channels and two sewage treatment plants (STPs) in Dwarka on Tuesday.

Announcing the development on X, Saxena stated, “Dwarka sub-city today got another facelift with the inauguration of four cascading fountains.”

The 12-feet-tall fountains surrounded by green spaces were inaugurated at the intersection of Sectors 1/7 and 2/6. Additionally, Saxena inaugurated stormwater channels two and five in order to resolve the long-standing problem of waterlogging in the area. He emphasised that these channels would also be used to create recreational water bodies. Highlighting the overall redevelopment efforts of the Delhi Development Authority, he noted the transformation of the area into open green spaces for activities like walking, jogging and cycling. He also mentioned the addition of amenities like an open-air food court, theatre, yoga pavilion, children’s park and public toilets along the channel.

To ensure the sustainability of water channels, Saxena inaugurated two STPs with capacities of seven MLD and 9.5 MLD, providing tertiary treated water for the channels.

He also underscored the role of channels as greenways connecting metro stations to residential areas, the Golf Course, Bharat Vandana Park, Sports Complex and other key locations. He added the forthcoming Diplomatic Enclave and state bhawans along the Yashobhumi would provide a boost to the national and international significance of the sub-city.
