New Delhi, February 11

Prime Minister Narendra Modi commemorated the death anniversary of Deendayal Upadhyaya, a pivotal figure in the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and a key ideologue of the BJP, on Sunday with a post on X. Modi praised Upadhyaya for his visionary leadership, which emphasised the preservation of Indian culture and heritage while charting a path for the nation’s progress.

In his post, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage, stating, “Salutations to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay on his death anniversary from people across the country. He showed the way to take the country forward by keeping Indian culture and heritage at the centre, which has also become a source of inspiration in building a developed India.”

Upadhyaya, an influential member of the RSS, was known for his concepts of “antyodaya” (uplift of the most impoverished) and “integral humanism”.

At the solemn occasion held at Deendayal Upadhyay Park, several BJP leaders, including BJP’s national secretary Tarun Chugh and state president of BJP Delhi Virendra Sachdeva, gathered to pay homage to the late leader. Reflecting on Upadhyaya’s contributions, Chugh underscored his enduring legacy.

Sachdeva highlighted Modi’s commitment to serving the marginalised and ensuring the widespread implementation of government schemes. The event served as a poignant reminder not only to honour Upadhyay’s memory but also to uphold and promote his principles in daily life. Notably, Sachdeva emphasised Upadhyay’s advocacy for women’s rights, a cause championed by Modi’s administration as well.
