New Delhi, March 6

Praveen Khandelwal, the BJP candidate from the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency, met Lieutenant-Governor VK Saxena on Wednesday.

Accompanied by party representatives and traders, he discussed various problems concerning residents in the constituency, including the plight of displaced Hindu refugees from Pakistan and the re-opening of shops that were sealed by a Supreme Court-appointed judicial committee in the local shopping centre (LSC) markets, with the Lieutenant-Governor.

Khandelwal emphasised the urgent need for repairing roads, addressing accumulation of waste and enhancing civic amenities in both commercial and residential areas.

Additionally, Khandelwal announced that an ‘International Women’s Day Mega Summit’ will be organised on March 8 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.

BJP leaders such as Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani and BJP national president JP Nadda are expected to attend the event.

The event will highlight Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to financially empower women and showcase the national impact of the ‘Lakhpati Didi Yojana’.

The summit, which aims to bring together 25,000 ‘Lakhpati Didi’ entrepreneurs from across the country, will mark the launch of a nationwide campaign to empower women across all states under Modi’s leadership.
