Day after, police release CCTV grabs of bank robbery suspects

Day after the bank dacoity at Bandala village in the Jandiala Guru area, the rural police on Sunday released CCTV grabs of two suspects besides a picture of the car used in the crime. Gurinderbir Singh Sidhu, DSP, Jandiala Guru, said the same group was involved in the bank robbery at Thathian Mahantan village in Tarn Taran on Friday. He said the car used in the crime did not have the number plate on the rear side.

Unknown armed robbers had decamped with Rs 1.55 lakh from the HDFC bank branch at Bandala village and the same gang had looted Rs 6 lakh from the Axis Bank branch at Thathian Mahantan village. The accused barged into the HDFC Bank branch and held the security guard and other staff members hostage at gunpoint. Thereafter, they took out the cash from the cash box kept at the counter of the cashier and fled. They also took along the Digital Video Recorder of the bank.

Gurinderbir Singh Sidhu said their pictures were sent to all the police stations and other districts of Punjab to find clues about their whereabouts. He said they were hopeful of getting some clues about the robbers.
