Ambala, January 20

A 70-year-old woman has accused her daughter and son-in-law of duping her of over Rs 18.50 lakh in Naraingarh.

The suspects have been identified as complainant’s daughter Baljinder Kaur, son-in-law Pawan Kumar and Baljinder Kaur’s sons Shivam and Sagar.

The woman alleged she had given a cheque of Rs 18,500 to her daughter as she needed some money but her daughter had withdrawn Rs 18.5 lakh from her account and purchased a truck from that money. She claimed they had reached a compromise over the issue but the suspects later tried to kill her by administering some intoxicanting substance and confining her in a room for two days.

Besides Rs 18.57 lakh, the suspects had earlier taken Rs 4 lakh from her, she alleged.

A case has been registered under sections 328, 342, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code at Naraingarh Police Station.

Naraingarh police station Station House Officer Arvind Kumar said, “The woman has some financial dispute with her daughter. Following the complaint, a case has been registered and the claims of the woman are being verified.”

Amit Kumar, DSP, Naraingarh, said “The woman has alleged that her daughter had demanded Rs 18,500 but she has withdrawn over Rs 18.5 lakh from her account. Now, the woman is seeking her money back but her daughter has told him that they had purchased a truck. The matter is under investigation.”
