Himanshu Bansal from the city has scored 99.66 percentile in the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main, the results of which were declared on Friday evening.
As many as 24 candidates from the city got 90 per cent or above in the engineering entrance exam. Dhruv scored 99.27 percentile and Chirag scored 99.23 percentile. Ankush scored 98.81 percentile, Abhinav 98.22 percentile and Gaganjit scored 98.04 percentile. After clearing the JEE Main, candidates would be appearing for JEE Advanced later in the year.
Satish Kumar, father of Himanshu, said, “We are happy that hard work and perseverance of my son have finally paid off, but there is still a long way to go. Himanshu now would be preparing for JEE Advance following which we will see as per the availability of streams in reputed colleges before making a final call on choosing the engineering stream. Apart from academics, he likes watching cricket on TV.”
Prof Jaswinder and prof Pardeep Yadav, Himanshu’s teacher and mentor, respectively, said, “Himanshu has always been a brilliant student. He is not only industrious but also a quick learner. Druv and Chirag and every student who performed well had been regular in their studies and barely missed classes.”
“We are hopeful that he would perform exceedingly well in the upcoming JEE Advanced entrance exam as well,” added Jaswinder, who is teaching at Competition Zone (coaching institute).
