Chandigarh, January 19

The Chief Secretary will be competent to dispose of urgent cases of the Administrative Reforms Department in the absence of the Chief Minister, the state government has clarified.

An order issued by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who heads the Administrative Reforms Department, however, said these disposed of cases would be shown to him on his arrival in Chandigarh.

According to the orders, administrative levels for the disposal of cases have been divided into six categories. The lowest category is that of the Superintendent followed by Research Officer, Deputy Secretary/Under Secretary, Additional Secretary/Special Secretary/Secretary and Chief Secretary. The Chief Minister would be the apex authority for disposing of the cases.

“The cases coming under one level shall normally not go to any higher authority,” the order said, adding that that simple cases could be disposed of at levels lower than prescribed in the rules. — tns
